| DEDICATION This book is dedicated to the memory of Northwestern University Football Coach Randy Walker who died suddenly on June 29, 2006. It was Coach Walker's compassionate initiative to pursue this book as a way to support the plight of two near completely paralyzed Chicago area high school football players: Rob Komosa and Rasul (Rocky) Clark. Coach Walker provided important leadership, motivation and supplied bottomless inspiration for this book project. Randy Walker possessed the fortitude to confront the realities and impact of the spinal cord injuries and did his best to try and explore ways to help. Randy and Dick Jauron were responsible for personally inviting fellow coaches from the college and NFL ranks to lock arms as a football family and seek a way to support the boys. Randy made it his business to insure that these injured players would not become lost and neglected. Coach Walker sought ways to bring out the best in Rob and Rocky on the road to victory. He loved being a coach on and off of the field, and it showed. Coach
Walker was a tireless advocate for Rocky and Rob. Randy Walker's spirit remains
tenderly in our hearts. We will never forget him! |
